For info contact Marcia Dykstra (269-343-1403) or  Deb Bos (269-343-4100)

Community Bible Study (CBS) is an independent movement--not connected with any church or denomination. The leadership of each class is from the local area and represents a broad cross-section of the community. All CBS leadership, from the local class to the national leadership, are volunteers.

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…" --James 4:8

Community Bible Study (CBS) was started 25 years ago with a three-fold vision:

1. Comfortable-In CBS we will try to make you feel comfortable. Your Core Leader has been trained to be your shepherd. Your Core Leader is not to answer all your questions, but to facilitate the asking of the questions in your Core Group. Your Core Leader will try to ask the home study questions in such a way that you feel comfortable in answering them.

2. Confident-In CBS we ask that you try to do your best on your home study questions and try your best to attend class every week. In Core Group we will go over our home study questions, after Core Group, you will hear a lecture on the scriptures from your home study questions, and then you will receive a commentary on the same scriptures. By going over the same scriptures four times, you will become confident in God's Word.

3. Cared For-In CBS we try our best to help you feel cared for. Your Core Leader will stay in touch with you to encourage you, answer any questions you may have or pray for needs that may arise. In order to help you get to know one another in your Core Group, we will have fellowships on the second Thursday of every month, which includes the sharing of a light meal such as pizza, salad bar, baked potato and toppings, chili, etc.

There is no set charge for the course. Giving in CBS is voluntary so that class members who cannot contribute funds may still attend. Each class is financially supported through the contributions of class members. The IRS will recognize any amount given over $60 per class year as tax-deductible. This includes the suggested $20 registration fee. A Scholarship Fund is available to those who are not able to contribute. Fifteen percent of the offering is returned to Faith Church as gratuity.

Community Bible Study is an interdenominational, nonprofit Bible study organization with headquarters in Reston, VA.
